An Enchanting World of Elegance and Imaginatio

From November 9th (Saturday) to December 1st (Sunday), 2024, FUJI GALLERY SHINJUKU, located on the basement level of Hilton Tokyo in Nishi-Shinjuku, will host a solo exhibition by Miho Sudo. Active since the 1980s, Sudo has created and exhibited numerous paintings, with a distinctive style characterized by vibrant depictions of young girls in exquisite kimonos, surrounded by lush, fragrant flowers, often set against radiant, gold-leaf-embellished backgrounds. Her works evoke a unique, shadowless brilliance reminiscent of traditional Japanese paintings, presenting a surreal world where the boundaries between past and present, reality and illusion, and dreams and wakefulness blend seamlessly.

This exhibition, Sudo's sixth at FUJI GALLERY SHINJUKU, will feature oil paintings centered on themes of young girls and dolls, as well as delicate botanical illustrations rendered in watercolor and colored pencils.

About Miho Sudo

Miho Sudo was born in 1956 in Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture. She graduated from the Art Department of Gifu Prefectural Kano High School in 1975 and completed her studies at the Graduate School of Tama Art University in 1983. As a member of the Dokuritsu Art Association, an executive of the Women's Art Association, and a member of the Japan Artists Federation, she has been an active contributor to the Japanese art scene. Over the years, she has held numerous solo and group exhibitions at venues such as Nihombashi Mitsukoshi and FUJI GALLERY SHINJUKU, captivating audiences with her unique works. Her art has been collected by institutions such as the Suitopia Gallery in Ogaki City, the Omura Art Museum in Nirasaki, Hojitsu Seiko Co., Ltd., and Showa Concrete Co., Ltd.
