21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa “DANCING WITH ALL: The Ecology of Empathy”

The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, is hosting an exhibition to celebrate its 20th anniversary, focusing on new ecologies. This event aims to explore how we can coexist with our environment through the insights of artists, scientists, and philosophers. By showcasing works from creators worldwide, the exhibition seeks to convey a comprehensive ecological theory that integrates society and the psyche, promoting sensory learning and a vision of symbiotic relationships. This initiative reflects Kanazawa's rich philosophical heritage and encourages harmony with all forms of life.

Gallery 3 at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT: "Ronan Bouroullec: On Creative Session"

HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE explores its innovative design process through a collaborative project called "Creative Session" with designer Ronan Bouroullec. This partnership allowed the design team to immerse themselves in Bouroullec's artistic world, focusing on color, form, and movement. The exhibition showcases this creative exchange through original drawings and garments, demonstrating the evolution of ideas into wearable art. It includes prototypes, manufacturing videos, and a film featuring Bouroullec, highlighting the integration of fashion and art in their creative journey.

National Museum of Art, Osaka - Special Exhibition "The Possibilities of Linear Expression"

National Museum of Art, Osaka - "Collection 1: Portraits of Her"

This exhibition focuses on works from the museum collection that feature female figures and are arranged in thematic sections. Here, we consider what contemporary artists entrust to portraits of women as individuals with personalities and backgrounds, rather than simply being encoded images, and what kind of social, historical, and relational aspects they express in their works. Also included are works that were newly acquired in the last fiscal year such as an installation by Leonor Antunes that was inspired by the activities of the female designers Michiko Yamawaki and Charlotte Perriand.

Special Exhibition "Yuichiro Tamura ATM" at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Art Tower Mito Yuichiro Tamura ATM

Yuichiro Tamura's art, spanning photography, film, installation, performance, and theater, draws from existing imagery and objects, intertwining reality and fiction through multilayered narratives. In this exhibition, he presents a new piece titled ATM, inspired by Art Tower Mito. Visitors engage with Tamura's work through short stories generated by AI, using the artist's extensive writings as a foundation to create fresh narratives.

The Tokyo Photographic Art Museum "Alec Soth: A Room of Rooms"

Titled A Room of The exhibition "A Room of Rooms" presents a variety of Alec Soth’s photographs, from his early series "Sleeping by the Mississippi" to the upcoming "Advice for Young Artists." Saga Arashiyama Museum of Art - Special Exhibition: Haiku and Haiga: The Charisma of Two Poets, Bashō and Buson

When haiku is mentioned, the names Matsuo Bashō and Yosa Buson probably spring to mind. This exhibition introduces a number of outstanding works of haiku and haiga (paintings depicted together with haiku), including the "Furuikeya" tanzaku strip (famous frog poem), which was handwritten by Bashō himself, the the Manuscript Scroll of Nozaraishi Kikō [Weather-beaten Bones Travelogue] also written and illustrated by himself, and the "Ikaidashi no" (haiku and painting) written and handpainted by Buson. This exhibition is a fitting tribute to Arashiyama, a place associated with these two charismatic figures.

Kuma Foundation Gallery - "KUMA Experiment 2024-25" Vol. 2: "There but Not There, Not There but There"

This exhibition is the second installment of the group exhibition series aimed at showcasing the成果 of the eighth cohort of creators supported by the Kuma Foundation, featuring 45 participants. The participating creators include: Yui Ishiwata, who is captivated by the structure of fabric and creates three-dimensional works through weaving and dyeing; Shota Imamura, who utilizes technologies like AI to envision a world where desired information is readily available; Yusuke Koyasu, who explores sound across disciplines, including scientific research and art; Hina Shibata, who confronts the ambiguity and eeriness of film in her work; and Eiyu Sugiura, who seeks ways to make art music more accessible through composition.

KOTARO NUKAGA (Tennoz) is pleased to present ‘Can I Believe in a Fortunate Tomorrow? ’ a solo exhibition by multimedia artist and filmmaker Sputniko! from November 2（Sat）, 2024, to January 25（Sat）, 2025.The exhibition, which includes three series of works, including new, previously unseen pieces, reflects Sputniko!’s ongoing exploration since her debut at Ars Electronica (Austria) in 2009. As an artist who has pioneered media art and technology, Sputniko! has consistently used her work to reveal, blur, and transcend the boundaries of conventional dualities within society, offering experiences that unsettle our notions of “normality” and “common sense” while elevating them into the realm of art.

WKM Gallery presents *Peaceable Kingdom*, Jun Takahashi’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, from October 25 to December 14, 2024. Known for founding UNDERCOVER, Takahashi showcases new artworks revealing his surreal, dark universe. Inspired by Patti Smith’s song, his works blend distorted portraits and dream-like landscapes, using motifs like apples and clouds to explore innocence, decay, and hope amidst chaos.
