Thinking Locally, Building Globally
Architizer, the largest online platform for architecture, announces the official opening of the 13th Annual Architizer A+Awards, honoring the year’s best buildings and spaces. NPO Aoyama Design Forum (ADF) proudly supports the A+Awards as a media partner of Architizer.
The Architizer A+Awards is the world’s largest and most democratic architectural awards program, and celebrates the extraordinary work of designers in over 85 countries worldwide. Now in its 13th season, the program will highlight designers blending global influences with local traditions, materials, and knowledge — building remarkably contextual yet decidedly innovative architecture that addresses pressing global concerns.
Architecture today is marked by international settings and technologies, the import and export of goods and ideas, and a climate crisis that is universally shared. The 13th Annual A+Awards will honor projects that are responding to globalization of the industry in unique and contextually sensitive ways. Returning this season are the Sustainability Awards, in which entrants must meet stringent design criteria created in partnership with leading green building experts, as well as categories for adaptive reuse and renovation works that contribute to the revitalization of buildings and communities around the world.
The 13th A+Awards maintains its commitment to the democratic judging process, highlighting design’s impact on people’s everyday lives with an online vote by the public in each category. The 12th Annual A+Awards received over 400,000 public votes on 5,000+ entries from over 80 countries worldwide.
New this year are a suite of categories dedicated specifically to firms and projects emphasizing global vision and local context, spotlighting architectural innovation that is deeply rooted in place. This season also sees the addition of categories honoring materiality and detailing, as well as experimental approaches and technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) design.
